You cannot monitor twins (more than one baby) in the same cot at the same time, using one or two Sensor Pads- the Angelcare Movement Sensor Pad is that sensitive it will pick up the movements from each baby.
This would mean that if there was no movement detected for example from baby 1, the monitor will not alarm as the Sensor Pad(s) will still be detecting movement from baby 2 (and 3).
The Sensor Pad is designed to detect movement over the full surface of the mattress and not just baby lying above it, therefore, it cannot differentiate which baby the movement is coming from.
To explain the alarm to you – with one Sensor Pad in a cot with one baby, if no movement is detected on the surface of the mattress for 15 seconds you will hear the:
• Main Alarm – this is a series of loud continuous beeps from both the Nursery/Camera Unit & Parent Unit (if switched on). This indicates that your monitor has not re-established your baby’s sleeping pattern.
You can use a simple combination of Angelcare monitors for twins (more than one baby), however please note that it is not possible to connect any monitors together whatever the model, they will independently of each other. You would need 2 (3) separate monitors.
With the latest range of Angelcare Movement Monitors it is now possible to monitor twins using one monitor should you wish:
The following models are supplied with a Parent Unit, Camera Unit and Sensor Pad (AC Adaptors and other parts to power units included) to monitor baby 1:
To monitor baby 2 you would need to purchase the ACAM2 bundle (Angelcare ACAM2 Extra Movement Sensor Pad & Nursery Unit) - this has a Camera Unit, Sensor Pad (AC Adaptor and other parts to power unit included) from the spare parts tab on our Angelcare UK website.
Once received this would need to be connected to your existing monitor so that you can monitor the movement of baby`s 1 & 2 at the same time.
Remember though as above though when using a Sensor Pad is - One cot, One baby, One Sensor Pad.
All additional Camera Units are available to buy in our Spare Parts category in the Spare Parts tab on the Angelcare UK website.
To check the compatibility when using more than one monitor see the following link where you can check the options that are available for you
IMPORTANT ADVICE WHEN ADDING AN ADDITIONAL CAMERA OR ADDITIONAL CAMERA & SENSOR PAD:
- When monitoring sound, it is not possible to hear sound from each Nursery Unit connected to the monitor at the same time
- Sound can only be heard from the Nursery Unit highlighted in the info bar on the Parent Unit screen. This can be manually changed as & when required - REFER TO THE MANUAL:
- When using two Sensor Pads with one Monitor, it is recommended that each Sensor Pad is located in a separate room
Should you decide to use the Sensor Pads in the same room (always separate cots) kindly ensure that the cots are far apart from each other and then carry out the Four Corner Test to be sure that the sensitivity of the pad is not too high
To explain, your Angelcare Movement Monitor when you set this up for the first time is set to level 2, this is suitable for most standard cots. cot beds.
The sensitivity level should only be adjusted if required.
It is important to realise that the higher the sensitivity level the larger the area the pad can detect movement. For example - if the sensitivity level of the pad for twin 1 is too high and the cots are too close together the pad can detect movement from outside of the cot such as twin 2 moving around their cot.
If this is the case the monitor will not alarm if required for twin 1.
Angelcare Sensor Pads detect your baby`s movements on the surface of baby`s mattress and not your baby`s breathing, heart rate.
For information on the Four Corner Test for your model search for the following in the help centre "How can I check my monitor's sensitivity level is correct for my baby's mattress?". This will show the Four Corner Test and general advice on this query for all models including yours.
